The business of food and food delivery is tough. Just in the past few months we saw a number of startups shut down – Indie Plate shuts down || Canadian FoodTech startup Food Starter abruptly shuts  || Meal Kit Startup JustAddCooking Shuts down || Commercial Kitchen startup, Pilotworks shuts down. Now, comes news that On-demand meal-delivery startup Munchery is joining the list.

Dear Customer,

Since 2010, we have been committed to bringing fresh, local, and delicious meals into your homes along with all our customers across the country. We’ve been delighted to work with world renowned chefs, experiment with diverse and unique ingredients and recipes, and be a part of your holiday feasts and traditions. We have also enjoyed giving back to our communities through meal donations, volunteer services, and so much more.

Today, with. heavy heart, we’re announcing that Munchery is closing its doors and ending operations effective immediately. Any outstanding orders with Munchery will be cancelled and refunded. Please allow 2-3 business days for these refunds to process.

More than anything, we want to say thank you. Thank you for all the love and support you have shown us   over the years, for sharing us with your friends and family, and for including us in your special life moments.

We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to share our dream with you — it has been truly wonderful. Happy Eating.

According to techcrunch, “Now, three days after its sudden announcement, several vendors are waiting anxiously for their final invoice checks, and say they weren’t notified of Munchery’s end, nor has the business responded to persistent requests for explanations.

Munchery has not responded to multiple requests for comment from TechCrunch. As of Thursday morning, Munchery had not officially filed for bankruptcy in the Federal Court or in the Superior Court of San Francisco.”
